  • Make sure you’ve made your enrollment deposit and other fees are paid.

  • Planning to attend Greek Language Intensive starting in July?

    • Make sure to send in the non-refundable $250 deposit by April 15th.

  • Coming directly from undergraduate college?

    • Please, request them to send your transcript to CTS by July 1st.

International Student Next Steps

International Student Orientation is August 26-27, 2019.

Accepted students who are not U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents of the U.S. will need to obtain an F-1 Visa or transfer your SEVIS record to CTS, proof of minimum financial support, and obtain school-sponsored hospitalization insurance for themselves and all accompanying family members.

We can guide you through visa and immigration questions, and we’re here to offer our friendship and support as you learn to navigate a new culture and community. Our office provides the following: 

  • F-1/J-1 student visa guidance  

  • SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System) administration 

  • Compliance with federal immigration regulations 

  • International student orientation 

  • Campus programs and events 

  • Hospitality for new and returning students

How do I apply for Financial Aid?

Columbia Theological Seminary offers generous need-based financial aid which is comprised of institutional grants, scholarships, and work-study. For more information on obtaining financial aid, click here.

When should I arrive on campus?

  • Greek School Students

    • Students who are taking Greek during the summer term can move in as early as July 1st.

    • Greek school is scheduled for July 8-August 16th.

  • MAPT and Dual Degree Students

    • All incoming MAPT and Dual Degree students take the MAPT Introductory Seminar. Students taking the MAPT Introductory Seminary can move in as early as August 6th.

    • The MAPT Introductory Seminar is scheduled for August 12-16th.

  • Fall Semester Students

    • Students who won’t begin studies until fall semester can move in as early as August 27th.

    • Fall semester courses will begin on Tuesday, September 3rd.

What about Orientation?

Orientation is intended to introduce you to all the tools you might need to thrive at Columbia Seminary. During orientation, you’ll meet fellow students; interact with faculty, staff, and returning students; get to know Columbia, Decatur, and Atlanta; and learn about the many resources available to students. You will have the opportunity to register for classes, pick up your student ID, get acquainted with campus, and much more!

  • Orientation will be held for all incoming MDiv, MAPT, Dual Degree, MA(TS), and ThM students from August 27-29th, 2019.

  • International Student Orientation is August 26-27, 2019.

  • Orientation is required for all incoming students.

  • In late July, you’ll receive a detailed check list of items to complete to register for orientation and the dates and schedule of fun and informative activities.

  • In early August, you will receive more information from the Office of Student Affairs and Community Life, including a detailed orientation schedule.

How can I arrange on-campus housing?

Housing is available to all incoming students.

  • If you want to live on-campus, fill out your housing application here. (April 15th is the priority consideration deadline)

A few things to know about our on-campus housing:

  • Housing is assigned on a priority basis. Housing applications are considered in the order they are submitted.

  • Accessible housing is available.

  • A refundable deposit of one month’s rent is required.

  • Eligibility for units is based on the size of your household.

  • There is a four-year limit for on-campus housing.

  • If you choose a unit without cooking facilities then a meal plan is required.
