Collegiate Chaplaincy Resident

Serve as a staff person for Campus Life at Presbyterian College and work 40 hours per week. 
●    Report to the Director of Religious Life & Service and participate in a weekly supervision meeting  
●    Provide mentoring and guidance as to the students at Presbyterian College.  
●    Work with the Director of Religious Life & Service and the Administrative Assistant for Religious Life & Service to develop programs, plan trips, and communicate with the Presbyterian College community and the church at large.  

The purpose of Presbyterian College is to “to develop within the framework of Christian faith the mental, physical, moral, and spiritual capacities of each student in preparation for a lifetime of personal and vocational fulfillment and responsible contribution to our democratic society and the world community.” The selected Chaplain Resident will support the mission of the college by cultivating the spiritual and moral development of Presbyterian College students.  
 
 Presbyterian College has a history of putting its faith into action through service in the world. This opening is an excellent opportunity to explore chaplaincy work in higher education as an ordained call and expose new pastors to ways that faith communities can be places that make a difference in the world. Under the supervision of the Director of Religious Life & Service, the Resident will engage in activities and initiatives that support spiritual formation in a liberal arts college. This opportunity is unique in that it is designed for recent seminary graduates to gain experience in a collegiate chaplaincy--a  unique blend of advising, empowering, directing and equipping students for meaningful learning and spiritually formative experiences.  
 
Position Description: 
●    10-month position  
●    Serve as a staff person for Campus Life at Presbyterian College and work 40 hours per week. 
●    Report to the Director of Religious Life & Service and participate in a weekly supervision meeting  
●    Provide mentoring and guidance as to the students at Presbyterian College.  
●    Work with the Director of Religious Life & Service and the Administrative Assistant for Religious Life & Service to develop programs, plan trips, and communicate with the Presbyterian College community and the church at large.  
 
Primary Responsibilities:  
●    Lead weekly programs for UKirk PC, and the Nest (the intentional Christian-living community on campus)  
●    Advise Student Volunteer Services and assist in implementation of service activities by overseeing a group of 30 student “Coordinators” and directly supervising 2 student
“Directors.” The Resident will take the lead on the Week of Welcome Service Day and MLK Service Day projects.  
●    Provide pastoral care, supporting the PC community in the disciplines of the faith amid the struggles of daily life. 
●    Participate in outreach efforts to churches as able and if the Resident is a member of the Presbyterian Church (USA), he or she will participate in appropriate and faithful Trinity Presbytery responsibilities.  
●    Participate in the weekend on-call rotation
●    Within the following ministry areas, the Resident can focus their time and energies, to fit their interests, gifts or skills. o    Planning campus-wide worship services with a team of students. 
o    Bluefish Campus Ministry team. o    Celtic Cross church leadership exploration organization for students o    CHAMPS mentoring program o    Open Mic-Nights
 
Qualifications: Bachelors required, Masters of Divinity prefered
 
Dates: August 1, 2018-May 31, 2019
 
Compensation:
College owned housing
5 meals a week dining plan
$15,000 per year stipend
$1,000 towards Continuing Education
