Associate Pastor

Westminster Presbyterian Church (WPC) is located in Buffalo, NY. Founded in 1854, Westminster is a progressive and yet traditional mainline Presbyterian congregation. WPC is looking for a full time, Associate Pastor to lead youth and family ministries. This position combines the Director of Christian Education and the Youth Coordinator roles. The primary focus of our new Associate Pastor (AP) will be the programs of Christian education and nurture for families, children, and youth. AP will participate in weekly planning of worship and will advocate for the needs of children in the worship service and in the life of the church. AP will be responsible for organizing the Sunday School, as well as fellowship and milestone events that involve children and youth. AP will work with WPC’s Committees to foster programming for the Congregation’s spiritual formation and growth from cradle to grave.

Temporary Director of Children's and Youth Ministries

Central Presbyterian Church (Atlanta) is seeking a part-time Temporary Director of Children’s and Youth Ministries to coordinate, energize, and maintain our thriving ministry with young people.

This staff person will have the following responsibilities:

  • Oversee children’s Sunday school by coordinating Godly Play story schedule and supporting teachers with materials

  • Oversee children’s ministry programs such as the planning of Children’s Sabbath (February 3) with Sunday school teachers

  • Supervise and coordinate with our two Youth Ministry Coordinators, who are part-time seminary students. The Youth Ministry Coordinators teach youth  Sunday school and are responsible for Sunday night youth fellowship.

  • Continue and oversee confirmation in 2019, which includes two one-night retreats, supporting confirmation sponsors, and coordinating confirmation Sunday in May

  • With the youth committee, plan and support youth mission trips, fundraisers, youth Sunday, and fellowship activities

  • Communicate with the families of children and youth as needed

  • Work with the children’s and youth committees as needed

  • This position is supervised by the pastoral staff.

  • Applicants should have a four-year college degree, experience in Christian Education, and/or theological training.

The expected duration of this position is through the end of June 2019. At the end of that time, the position may be renewed, expanded, or re-evaluated under the leadership of a new head of staff. Applicants should send a resume to jobs@cpcatlanta.org.

Students include children (1st through 5th grade) and youth (6th - 12th grade), with the primary focus on youth.
