New Student Orientation 2017

Welcome to the Columbia Current, the Office of Student Life and Formation's online news hub for what's happening at Columbia Theological Seminary. In the coming months, the Current will also be your primary source for orientation updates and tips for transitioning to Atlanta. Before orientation, please complete the checklist below. NEWS & UPDATES

COLUMBIA OPEN HOUSE: Please plan to attend the Columbia Open House on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 from 1:30 - 4:30pm. You will have an opportunity to check-in with the Offices of Admission & Financial Aid, Institutional Advancement, Worship Life, Student Life & Formation, Academic Affairs, and much more! This will be your final opportunity to complete pre-orientation business. It will also be your only opportunity to acquire your very own orientation t-shirt. The Columbia Open House is required for all students.

ORIENTATION SCHEDULE: The orientation schedule may change slightly before the big day. You can review and download here. 

As you await orientation, you can complete the Orientation Checklist to the right. 

ORIENTATION CHECKLIST

1. ORIENTATION REGISTRATION: In order to offer the greatest amount of hospitality possible, please let us know your preferred named, preferred pronouns, and dietary restrictions, Register for orientation here.

2. SUBMIT YOUR HEALTH INSURANCE VERIFICATION
All Columbia Theological Seminary are required to have health insurance while enrolled. Verify your health insurance here.

3. COMPLETE YOUR DENOMINATIONAL / CHURCH INFORMATION FORM
The Office of Student Life & Formation works hard to ensure all students receive the support they need for vocational discernment and placement. The information you submit will help us help you continue discerning God's call. Complete the form here.

4. UPLOAD A PICTURE FOR YOUR PHOTO ID
Save time during orientation by submitting a photo for your new Columbia Student ID, which you will need to access resources in the John Bulow Campbell Library. Submit a photo here.

5. COMPLETE THE DIRECTORY INFORMATION FORM
The Office of Student Life & Formation strives to cultivate a community where everyone is known by face and name. All members of the community - faculty, staff, and students submit information to be included in the directory. Submit your information here.

6. REGISTER YOUR VEHICLE
All faculty, staff, and students must have a parking permit to park on campus. Parking decals are available in the Office of Student Life & Formation. Register your vehicle here

7. COMPLETE YOUR INFORMATION RELEASE FORM
At a student's request, Columbia may provide a denominational body, congregation, or community agency information that may have a bearing on the student's preparation for service in ministry/career. Please complete this form to grant Columbia permission to release your information. Complete the form here.

8. COMPLETE HAVEN PLUS (TITLE IX) TRAINING
As part of our campus wide education and prevention program, all students – regardless of degree program or prior training – are required to complete HavenPLUS. This online training will educate students about healthy relationships, the importance of consent, and the many ways we can all help create the safe, positive campus of which we all hope to be a part. Note: Use CTS email address, if you have it, or use a personal email address to complete Haven Training.

9. Sign up for the Ice Cream Social!
Meet the CTS President, get to know some current and new students, and enjoy some delicious ice cream. The fun starts at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon of orientation. Register here
