Tasks, expectations, duties, supervision, assignments, and responsibilities for the position
The Pastor’s job is to lead the spiritual growth of our congregation through worship, Bible studies, and a passionate desire to bring others to Christ. In worship, the primary responsibility is for preaching. S/he also establishes, plans, and leads effective worship services, in conjunction with the Session, in two diverse worship formats. Our Saturday evening service is informal and casual, but vitally important. Sunday morning services are traditional, but we are open to new ideas to incorporate contemporary worship music and styles
The Pastor is the head of staff of four: Music Director (part-time), Organist (part-time), Secretary, and Sexton. We look for the Pastor to develop and mentor the staff.
The Pastor will also collaborate with the Session to set goals and priorities and effectively carry out the initiatives that arise from their actions.
Other pastoral duties include:
Visiting homebound, hospitalized, or grieving members
Counseling
Follow-up with visitors; meet with prospective and new members
Officiate at weddings, baptisms, memorials, and interments
Pursue personal study and spiritual development
Hot Springs Village has almost 16,000 residents. Churches are well-attended and form a vital network for community support and cohesion. Visibility in the community is an important aspect of a minister’s outreach. We expect the Pastor to work with ministers in other faiths to maintain harmony among all churches through mutual love and respect.
